Israel refers to the oppressed people who found freedom through ChristAfrican refers to people of African descent
Methodist refers to the denomination based on John Wesley’s doctrine of equality & evangelism
Episcopal indicates that the highest office in the denomination is the Bishop or the one who “oversees” the work of the church.

"First" Israel AME Church strives to maintain a standard of Christian
living within the Capital District through the Proclamation of the
Word, Stewardship, Evangelism, Worship, Study of the Word, and Prayer.
We are called to "...Teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all
things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:19-20
